Credits Thanks to the testers: David “user interface” Blezard, Mike “Dangercons” Chase, John “I’ll give it a good thrashin’ for ya“ Gunterman, Kirk “Starbuged Dwarf” Hutcheon and Keith “when are you going to release this ?” Salustro for: 1) Being busy enough on the phone to prompt me to write this. 2) Telling me my code was doing things that I’d rather not have had to deal with ;^) 3) Calmly watching their Macs go down in flames during the development testing. 4) Providing solid feedback that improved the useablity of Chatter. Thanks to David Cullinan for generating the spiffy caffeine molecule that this text is covering. (Well, it’s spiffy in anything but black & white. ) Thanks to Eric Smith for the idea for the “two Macs talking on a string and tin can telephone” icon. Chatter was written by Alex Doyle with the help of just about everything Tangerine Dream has recorded and, of course, caffeine. A note on design philosophy: I’d like to think that Chatter is intuitive enough so that the average first time user could just double click on it and talk to somebody within minutes. However, my ideas of what is intuitive are biased because, as the program’s author, I already know how everything works. I got a lot of great feedback from my beta testers, but if there was anything in this program that you felt was obscure or counterintuitive, I’d like to know about it. Heck, if you even downloaded the program and ran it, I’d like to know about it.
